Certification Exams
CT Didactic Sources
Eligibility requirements to sit for the NMTCB(CT) exam include the completion of a minimum of thirty five (35) contact hours of didactic education within the three years prior to application including a minimum of four (4) hours of each of the following categories:
- Contrast administration
- Cross-sectional anatomy
- X-ray physics
- CT radiation safety
- The remainder of these hours must be in CT related topics.
- These 35 contact or didactic hours may be from a nuclear medicine technology education program, college credit courses from an accredited college or university, or continuing education approved by any of the organizations listed in our CE Policy, which may be found online at www.nmtcb.org/policies/contedPolicy.php.
- The following course has been found to meet each of the four (4) credit hour requirement of contrast administration, cross-sectional anatomy, X-ray physics, and CT radiation safety:
- CT+ Review and Essentials is offered by SNMMI. The remainder of 18 hours must be in CT related topics.
- The following comprehensive courses have been found to meet the entire didactic education requirement:
- Computed Tomography Cross Training Program offered by Molloy College
- Computed Tomography Technologist Training Course offered by Medical Technology Management Institute (MTMI)
- MI-462 Computed Tomography course from Regis College
- The combination of both Sectional Anatomy & Imaging Strategies AND CT Registry Review Program offered by Medical Imaging Consultants (MIC)
- The CT Registry Review Course offered by The PET/CT Training Institute, Inc.
- Midlands Technical College Computed Tomography Certificate
- Graduation from an approved NMAA educational program
- The following courses in the CT Certificate Program from Parkland College: XCT 210 CT Imaging - CT Physics course, XCT 212 Sectional Pathology - CT sectional pathology, and the XCT 214 Patient Care for CT & MRI course.
- Completion of all 3 of the following courses from the University of Alabama at Birmingham – NMT 605 Cross sectional Anatomy, NMT 623 CT Instrumentation, and NMT 633 Computed Tomography Procedures. See “Course Tab” (http://catalog.uab.edu/graduate/schoolofhealthprofessions/clinicalanddiagnosticsciences/nuclearmedicinetechnology/#courseinventory). Applicants for these courses must first apply and be accepted by the UAB Graduate School as non-degree seeking students.
- "Computed Tomography" Continuing Education course offered through Passaic County Community College.
- CT Registry Review & Preparation offered by Advanced Imaging Review (AIR)
- RSC 320—CT & Cross Sectional Anatomy course offered at MCPHS University.
